Sleazy n' scandalous

The latest book I've been reading is called Sex with Kings by Eleanor Herman. Mostly I picked it up because I couldn't resist the title. Also at the time, I was feeling sorry for myself as well as a bit self indulgent and felt I deserved some sleazy reading. This pretty much fits the bill. Overall, it is a bit choppy, as she divides the relations between kings and their mistresses into categaories, ie multiple mistresses vying for the king's attention (It's good to be king!), or how cuckholded husbands deal with the situtaion. She mainly focuses on the private lives of about four kings, but as different scenes from their lives are doled out among the categorical chapters, I found myself confused about who was who, though it starts to become more clear about halfway throught the book. Aside from this major problem with the layout of the book, there are some very entertaining stories to be read. And since it is so choppy, it would make excellent bathroom reading. Overall, a good way to spend a weary afternoon, curled up with a dish of bon bons.

mmm bon bons...

I think the traditional book format is dead. The whole words on one page, then next the next page, then the next page, that all died a while ago..

Do I bite, or don't I? If I do, that is exactly what you want, isn't it?

I am librarian, hear me ROAR!!! No, the book is not dead. At the very, very least, we always have Oprah. And while my library does a brisk movie business, people still ask fer books more often than movies. I think librarians have finally got it through their heads, (with a nod to Nancy Pearl) that it's okay for librarians to care about books, and not about the latest computer fads, ie blogging will change the WORLD!

For awhile I thought Oprah was a bad thing, but maybe in the end it isn't. Getting folks to read is never a bad thing.

Yea - of course I can hear ya roar. Books are always gonna be there, no matter how much some folks try to ban them.

And yea, of course I want ya to bi...(sounds of angry grunts come from the back). Oops, I did it again. I'm runnin' outta here...taxi!

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's never a bad thing. If Oprah figures out a way to convince everyone to read the instructions to her dustbuster and then explain them to her, this might be bad.

yea, but think of this: would you consider Oprah as a valid literary critic with trustworthy literary opinions?
